This is the Salesman Sample and contains the cover and spine of the burgundy cover mounted on the front endpaper. It also contains a pink prospectus at the end of the book describing the styles of bindings. The blank forms the salesman used to write down customer information have been cut out. 

Grayish blue cloth covers with pictorial front in black and gilt, as well as on rear cover. Rubbing to extremities. Corners bumped. FFEP is tattered. Top edge gilt. Front hinge is broken. Marginalia on fly leaf. Presentation page is blank. Tissue protected B&W plates and several in color. Pages are crisp and clean.
