Sphinx Striving with Destiny Robert Byr, Translated into English Auber Forestier

HISTORY: From a home built in 1850 in South Yarmouth, Massachusetts, a stone's throw from Bass River. With its high ceiling and ornate woodwork, it's easy to see why it was in the same family for 100 years. A couple of books from this home have paint on them; I love that someone clearly loved books, but not enough to cover them before painting!

DETAILS/CONDITION: Blindstamped covers show wear, including: rubbing to extremities and paint stains. Slightly shelf-cocked. Endpapers are stained. Front hinge cracked. MISSING TITLE PAGE. Toning, foxing, stains. Several full page illustrations.
