A large (10.5" x 12") antique children's book with matching pictorial front and rear covers by Charlotte Harding. Harding studied art at various institutions, notably under Howard Pyle at the Drexel Institute of Illustration. Harding’s works appeared in a number of magazines, including Good Housekeeping, The Saturday Evening Post, Harper’s Bazaar, and Ladies’ Home Journal.
Cover shows significant wear with stains and rubbed edges. Front hinge is broken. Evidence of book worms eating the fore edge (from a previous owner - not my home!). Beautiful illustrated borders on every page, as well as full page illustrations. Scribbling in pencil on a few pages. Several small stains and tears. Pages are otherwise crisp and clean.
