Hardcover. It's pretty incredible that these various alphabets were done by hand. I was fortunate to learn cursive in second grade; they don't teach it in the public schools anymore.

Brown cloth boards with silver lettering. A few small stains on covers. Corners are bumped. Endpapers are heavily toned. Book is from an old home, so there is a musty smell. Sound binding. A few small stains. Otherwise, pages are crisp and clean.
