First Bloomsbury Edition, Second State, Twenty First Printing. Excellent condition. A note on editions: the true first edition has "Joanne Rowling" on the copyright page and dropped text on page 7. A first edition, first printing, first state has "First published in Great Britain in 1999," "10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1," and the printer stated as "Clays Ltd, St Ives plc." on the copyright page. The boards are illustrated to match the dust jacket. The dust jacket has a price of £10.99 on the bottom corner of the front flap.

The second state of the first edition corrects the dropped text on page 7, and states "J.K. Rowling" on the copyright page. This book is a first edition, second state, 21st printing.

The third state of the first edition has the same changes as the second state, but the printer statement is removed on the copyright page and there are two pages of black and white advertisements in the rear of the book for the previous two books in the Harry Potter series.
