Julia Child is perhaps best known for bringing French cuisine to the American public with her debut cookbook, Mastering the Art of French Cooking, and her subsequent television programs, the most notable of which was The French Chef, which premiered in 1963. During the 70s and 80s, she was the star of numerous television programs, she also founded the American Institute of Wine & Food. In 1989, she published what she considered her magnum opus, a book and instructional video series collectively entitled The Way To Cook.
