1882 Antique Stationery Samples Aesops Fables Dempsey & Carroll Union Square NY

HISTORY: Dempsey & Carroll, which is still in business today, was founded in 1878 and has long been considered the finest purveyor of elegant engraved social stationery. This volume came from a home built in 1850 in South Yarmouth, Massachusetts, a stone's throw from Bass River. With its high ceiling and ornate woodwork, it's easy to see why it was in the same family for 100 years.

DETAILS/CONDITION: Covers show wear, including: rubbing to extremities, sunned spine, scuffs, and stains. All edges gilt. Lovely gilt detail on front and rear covers. Inscription from Dempsey & Carroll on FFEP. Sound binding. Pages are crisp and clean. Includes many stationery samples, gleanings from Shakespeare, and a selection of Aesop's Fables.
